Although in the township there are some proves that show the presence on the prehistoric man, its origins, as the ones of most of the villages in the county, are found in the years after the Reconquista. The first document that is known and is referred to the village dated from 1297. We know that it was a part of the township of Aleixar until the firsts thirty years of the 14th.century. After this, it belonged to the Prades Earldom until it got extincted. The village contributed with some men to the "Carlista" army, which was actually done by the closest villages to Vilaplana. During the last Guerra Carlina (1873), the liberal supporter in the
village fought from the church. Therefore, Cercos, Cucala and the priest
of Flix attacked this site and killed the hostages in El Albiol, with
the aim that the other Carlistas of El Mas de Mariner would learn the
lesson. |
